Lamb to the Slaughter


This is a story about a couple by the name of Mr and Mrs Mahoney.Mrs mahoney always stays home awaiting her husband to return from work everyday.Mr.Mahoney is a policeman who usually has a drink ready for him for when he comes home.His wife liked to sit quietly with him,enjoying his company after spending long hours alone by herself.Mrs mahoney offers to make him food but he doesnt want it,and tells her about an affair he is having and wants to leave her.She gets the leg of lamb out of the freezer and whacks him from behind,knocking him out and killing him.Mrs mahoney knows the consequences but it doesnt matter.Her concern was the fact she was pregnant and she wasnt prepared to take chances.She cooks the lamb in the oven,and goes to her room to wash and fix her makeup.Mary practices speaking to a grocer before she goes to the grocery store to get potatoes,beans,and cake.While she is there she pretends that everything is fine and nothing is out of the ordinary.When she gets home she discovers his body on the floor, kneels down and cries very hard.After a few minutes she calls the police and tells them she thinks her husband is dead.The cops come quickly and she knows nearly all of them at the police station.Mary asks if he is dead and they tell her he is, and ask her how it happened. She tells them that she went to the grocery store and when she got back,she found him on the floor.Noonan discovers dry blood on the victims head and hurries to the phone.In the meantime others began to show up like a doctor,a photographer,and a man taking fingerprints.The two detectives search the house for a murder weapon after they discover that her husband was killed by a blow to the back of the head.They ask her if anything was missing because it could have been used as a murder weapon.Mrs mahoney asks the detectives if they would like a drink and a bite to eat and they accept it.Mary listens to them while their eating,discussing the case and starts laughing because they were eating the evidence they needed to solve the crime.
