CBRM Smoking Ban

The Cape Breton Regional Municipality councillors are trying to force a bylaw that smoking be banned from all outdoor public spaces such as parks, public buildings, and other establishments.District 1 councillor Clarence Prince says that he doesnt like the recommendation in the sense that the staff lacks of community concern.Although some people already discussed this problem that it wasn't an issue with, its not the whole community.Prince believes the municipality should continue to ban smoking but says there's no sense in forcing a bylaw they can't enforce.
Policies that are present are difficult and do not have enough officers or staff to do the policing.District 4 councillor Claire Detheridge says that she didnt receive a complaint about the issue.District 10 councillor Darren Bruckschwaiger says if the bylaw was put in place, many people would follow it.The committee agreed to send the matter back to staff for further work.
I have been a smoker for about twenty years, and i think its a good idea that smoking be banned from public places. In my opinion for those who don't smoke, they shouldn't have to be exposed to second hand smoke or be around people who smell like an ashtray.Smoking around children is very bad for their health because it can lead to asthma, bronchitis, and other respiratory problems.
